Veterans’ charity Erskine seeks Volunteer speakers to spread the word

13-February-2012

Erskine is looking for volunteer speakers to spread the word about the care it provides for ex-Service men and women.

Whether you are keen to gain experience in public speaking or want to put your communication skills to good use, we need you!

Erskine is looking for individuals who are willing and able to meet its supporters and promote the specialised services it provides for veterans across Scotland. Our volunteer speakers would be asked to lead tours, visit groups in their local area to speak about the importance of fundraising or to accept donations on Erskine’s behalf at supporter events.

Every day Erskine volunteers help to raise vital funds and awareness in communities across Scotland from organised events, to can collections and speaking to groups and supporters about its commitment of caring for the Armed Forces community. Quite simply, without volunteers Erskine would not be able to continue its work.

In return for signing up to be a volunteer speaker, Erskine will aim to ensure that volunteering for the charity will be a fulfilling and worthwhile experience.

Susan Bradley, Erskine Fundraiser, said: “We are looking for volunteers to help Erskine with the growing number of requests, from our wonderful supporters, for presentations and tours of our homes. This is a great opportunity for an individual to enhance their public speaking skills, whilst helping to raise awareness of our fantastic charity. Getting to know our residents and sharing their stories with our supporters is a really humble experience and is my favourite part of my job, but we need help! Every volunteer speaker will be provided with training, support and encouragement. This is a fantastic opportunity to meet new people and to meet Erskine supporters whose donations allow our charity to provide its specialist care and support to our country’s heroes.”

For further information about becoming a Volunteer Speaker or to request an application form, please contact Susan Bradley on 0141 814 4625 or email susan.bradley@erskine.org.uk.
